As many as 2 million posters were printed by the Graphics Division of the Federal Art Project, depicting 36,000 designs. Only about 2 thousand of these posters have survived to the present day. These posters were published for virtually every subject touched by the New Deal.

When in 1935 the Government, through its WPA/FAP formed Poster Divisions
to employ jobless commercial artists, the Government unwittingly launched a
movement to improve the commercial poster and raise it to a true art form.
