These original parish registers are preserved in the Archives of the Birmingham Public Library as part of the records of the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama. This database includes all information found in the registers. The registers are available to the public, but because of their age and fragility, it is not possible to make copies of pages from the registers.
For defunct parishes, entries for all available years have been included in the database. For active parishes, entries are included up to 1950.
More than 200 of the people listed in the database were slaves. To see a list of all enslaved persons click on Limit to Slaves and then Submit.
Records for additional parishes will be added to this database as time and staffing permits. If you would like to submit records for this project, would like to have your personal record removed from the database, or if you have questions about the project or the Episcopal archives, please contact Jim Baggett at 205-226-3631 or jbaggett@bham.lib.al.us.
