The mission of the Birmingham Public Library is to provide the highest quality experience to our community for lifelong learning, cultural enrichment and enjoyment.

Get Your Passport

Patrons can apply for a U.S. passport and/or passport card at three Library locations. These library locations are officially designated by the U.S. Department of State as passport application acceptance facilities.

Classic Cocktails

Classic Cocktails is the premier pre-game celebration event for the annual football classic between Alabama A&M and Alabama State. It features tailgate-styled food, signature cocktails, music with a DJ, a photo area, and much more.

2024-2025 Year In Review

We welcomed thousands of new members, launched innovative programs, and expanded our digital collections. From inspiring storytimes and engaging workshops to record-breaking summer reading participation, our library continues to be a vibrant hub for learning, creativity, and community connection.
